Very Easy Apple Sauce
I didn't know how easy apple sauce was to make until I tried, now I will never buy it in a jar again!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes
Equipment:
- 1 Peeler
- 1 Apple Corer
- 1 medium pan
- Set of Measuring Spoons
- 1 food processor
- 1 Air tight jar
Ingredients:
- 4 lge Bramley Apples
- 2-3 tbsp sugar or sweetener
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and chop the apples into small chunks. If you prefer a chunkier texture, keep the pieces larger
- In a medium saucepan, combine the apples and sugar
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let the apples simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until they are very soft and break apart easily when stirred
Tips / Notes
I like to add a knob of butter to mine during the simmering stage for extra richness. You can also experiment with alternative ingredients, try adding ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon for warmth, or a tablespoon of lemon juice if you prefer a tangier flavour. If you’re short on time, microwave the chopped apples on high for 4–5 minutes, then add your other ingredients and mash with a fork. If you like a very very smooth apple sauce use a food processor.
Any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container (my go to’s are Kilner jars) in the fridge for up to a week, or frozen for longer storage.
I hope you enjoy the recipe—let me know if you give it a try and how it turns out!
