Very Easy Cheese Straws

Try my Very Easy Cheese Straws recipe and let me know how you get on!

You will need:

1 pack of puff pastry (or make your own just don’t ask me how)

200g Cheddar cheese (you can use any cheese you like, my advice is start with Cheddar, nail the recipe, then experiment!)

1 egg – whisk in a bowl for egg wash

Method:

  1. Set oven to 180 degrees celsius. Roll out pastry keeping it on the baking paper provided and cover with your egg wash.

2. Cover half of the pastry with cheese and fold pastry in half to cover the cheese.

3.  Use your rolling pin to give it a light roll. This will secure the pastry and cheese together.

4. Use a pizza cutter or a knife to cut your pastry into strips making your cheese straws!

5. Use the baking paper that comes with the pastry to line your baking tray. Lay your cheese straws on top with a little space in between. Egg wash the tops and if you have any left over add a little cheese to the top just for decoration.

Bake on 180 degrees celsius for 10-15mins. I set the timer for 10mins then keep an eye with a 2 minute timer until they are golden brown. Leave to cool on a wire tray or plate…enjoy warm or cold.
