Very Easy Chocolate Sponge
This super easy chocolate sponge recipe is perfect when you fancy a delicious homemade treat without the fuss! Soft, fluffy and full of chocolatey goodness, it’s a simple bake the whole family will love.

Equipment:
- Stand/hand Mixer
- Kitchen Scales
- Measuring Spoons
- Spatula
- Square cake tin
Ingredients:
- 175 G Self-Raising Flour
- 175 G Caster Sugar
- 175 g softened butter
- 3 med eggs
- 25 g cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp milk
- 100-200 g chocolate chips optional

- 150 g milk chocolate
- 75 ml milk
- 15 g butter
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan)
- Grease and line a 9x9 baking tin
- Put all the ingredients (except the chocolate chips) into one large bowl
- Mix with an electric whisk or stand mixer for about 2 minutes until smooth and creamy
- Stir in the chocolate chips
- Pour into your baking tin and spread evenly
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, until a skewer comes out clean
- Leave to cool before adding your chocolate topping
Easy Chocolate Topping
- Gently heat the cream, remove from the heat, then stir in the chocolate and butter until melted and glossy
- Pour over the cooled sponge and cut into squares.
