Very Easy Spaghetti Bolognese

This super easy spaghetti bolognese recipe is perfect for those busy evenings when you fancy something delicious without spending hours in the kitchen! It’s a firm family favourite in our house, and one Jacob loves to cook because it’s just so simple to make!

Equipment:

  • Frying Pan
  • medium size pan
  • vegetable chopper or sharp knife
  • Grater

Ingredients:

  • 500 g beef mince
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped or grated
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 500 g passata
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1-2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 100 ml water approx
  • spaghetti amount depending on appetite
  • 1 splash olive oil
  • parmesan to serve
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Heat a little olive oil in a large frying pan, then add the onion and carrot. Cook gently for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened
  • Add the beef mince and cook until completely browned, breaking it up as you go
  • Add the garlic, tomato purée and Italian seasoning. Stir and cook for about 1 minute
  • Pour in the passata, crumble in the beef stock cube and add approximately 100ml water
  • Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If it gets too thick, add a splash more water
  • Meanwhile, cook your spaghetti according to the packet instructions
  • Taste the bolognese, season with salt and pepper if needed, then serve over the spaghetti with Parmesan

Tips / Notes

Stock cubes can be quite salty, so don't be tempted to add salt or pepper until the very end.
You can also use your favourite pasta instead of spaghetti. I've gone for rigatoni because it's all I had in my cupboard LOL!!
