
Very Easy Gingerbread
I love making gingerbread with Arthur, it’s one of our favourite things to do. He gets so excited mixing the dough, breaking the egg, cutting out shapes, and, of course, sneaking a taste along the way!
Makes: 12 Biscuits
Prep Time 30 minutes
Total Time 42 minutes
Equipment:
- 1 Mixing Bowl
- 1 Stand Mixer
- Kitchen Scales
- 1 Set of Measuring Spoons
- Ginger Bread Man 3 Piece Cookie Cutters
- Reusable baking parchment
- 1 Baking Tray
- 1 Cooling Rack
Ingredients:
- 250 g plain flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 125 g unsalted butter, softened
- 175 g brown sugar
- 1 med egg
- 4 tbsp golden syrup or honey
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, ginger, and cinnamon
- Add the butter and rub it into the flour with your fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs
- Stir in the sugar
- Add the egg and golden syrup, then mix until a dough forms
- Lightly flour a surface and roll out the dough to about 5mm thick
- Cut into shapes using cookie cutters
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F)
- Place the shapes on a lined baking tray and bake for 10–12 minutes until golden
- Let the gingerbread cool on a wire rack before decorating with icing and sprinkles!
Tips / Notes
You can use either a stand or handheld mixer, BUT don’t over mix.
All ovens are slightly different so check your gingerbread at about 10 mins
