  • Frying Pan
  • medium size pan
  • vegetable chopper or sharp knife
  • Grater

Ingredients:

  • 500 g beef mince
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped or grated
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 500 g passata
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1-2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 100 ml water approx
  • pasta amount depending on appetite
  • 1 splash olive oil
  • parmesan to serve
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Heat a little olive oil in a large frying pan, then add the onion and carrot. Cook gently for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened
  • Add the beef mince and cook until completely browned, breaking it up as you go
  • Add the garlic, tomato purée and Italian seasoning. Stir and cook for about 1 minute
  • Pour in the passata, crumble in the beef stock cube and add approximately 100ml water
  • Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If it gets too thick, add a splash more water
  • Meanwhile, cook your pasta according to the packet instructions
  • Taste the bolognese, season with salt and pepper if needed, then serve over the spaghetti with Parmesan

Tips / Notes

Stock cubes can be quite salty, so don’t be tempted to add salt or pepper until the very end.
You can use any pasta you like.
