My Favourite Skincare Products at 40: Tried, Tested, and Repurchased
again and again
In my late 20s I upped my skincare game. In my 30s I nailed a routine and which ingredients I used. In my 40s I’m so confident to recommend products that have worked for me and I think will work well for others. Full disclosure, last year I had polynucleotides (highly recommend) and a little botox in the forehead but I feel like thats worn off now. My skin care routine has 3 parts, morning, evening and now and again – I’ll be taking you through my skincare routine and sharing the exact products I use at each stage

Morning Products
1. L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler Hyaluronic Acid Serum
This is the first thing I put on my skin. One dropper on my hand then its goes all over my face and neck. This product has actually transformed my skin since using it. Keeping it nicely hydrated and plumped. You can also use this product in the evening.
2. AUGUSTINUS BADER | The Rich Eye Cream
Bit of a bougie product that I got in my Liberty Advent calendar but omg what a product. I apply with one finger, under both eyes after my serum and just watch the glow! Before I got my calendar I used CeraVe under eye cream which I would also recommend for a more affordable option.
3. CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion Normal To Dry Skin
Every skin doctor I’ve ever met has told me wearing SPF every day should be an essential part of a morning anti aging skincare routine so thats what I’ve been doing for years. I currently use the CeraVe one, because the price is great and it doesn’t break down my foundation. I also recommend Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun. No white cast on both these products.
4. Grace & Stella under eye masks
I love these masks because they haven’t got too much liquid in the pack so just enough to crack on with breakfast whilst wearing. Also, they’re always cold when you open them, which really wakes me up!

Evening Products
1. ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
I’m such a fan of this brand!!! This cleansing balm not only takes my makeup off but it makes my skin fresh and glowy. When I stop using it I can really tell. I have tried a few cheaper cleansing balms and yes they take your makeup off but they do nothing extra for your skin. If you haven’t used cleansing balm before you smear this over your face, rub it in until it starts removing your make up, add a bit of warm water and massage until it turns into a white face wash, then wipe clean with a makeup cloth.
2. Medik8 Crystal Retinal – Age-Defying Retinal Night Serum
Me, my sister and my mum all use this and all recommend. It claims to reduce the look of your wrinkles and I agree I saw this after one tube. It’s a progressive cream so you start with number 3 and move up when you and your skin are ready. Note, it does get more expensive as you move up and it is a pricey one, but worth it. You only use every other evening so that does make it last longer.
3. ELEMIS Superfood Midnight Facial
An Elemis product I was influenced to try by my followers. Which I now love because it’s nice and thick, feels like a mask, but still soaks in perfectly before bed. I apply this after I have cleansed. I wake up and my skin is so glowy, hydrated and plump.
4. La Mer The Lip Balm 9g
Another advent calendar product. This is annoyingly good and I say that because lets get real its a £65 lip balm! BUT..It does exactly what it says, my lips feel moisturised and silky smooth. A much cheaper over night lip treatment I also recommend is Burt’s Bees Lip Mask, Overnight Lip Treatment. It has that soothing ingredient that the La Mer also has, just a little less, so if your lips feel sore either of these will be perfect.

Now & Again Products
1. medicube Salmon DNA PDRN pink collagen jelly gel mask
Wow wow wow!! A viral product I saw on Tiktok made viral because it’s AMAZING! In fact I’m working my way through this brand as we speak. It’s an overnight mask that you apply before bed, and then when you wake up your skin is INCREDIBLY glowy, like glass skin and it stays like that all day! Because i’m a stomach sleeper I struggle with overnight masks so I’ve been using this one during the day until it runs out. I was then bought the peel off mask below for my birthday which I’ll be replacing it with. I would use this once a week or every other week. I truly believe the effects last a good few days.
2. Medicube Collagen Overnight Wrapping Peel Off Facial Mask
This gives the same results as the Gel Mask but with a different application. It’s a clear gel that you apply all over your face and dries in 15 minutes. When I sleep in it – I actually forget it’s even there- and wake up with insanely glowing glass-like skin that lasts.
3. Dots for Spots Pimple Patches
Now and again when I have a spot that needs to go quickly I will use these patches. They work super quick to get rid of the spot. Not much else I can say about them. They work for me and I always have them in stock. Great for teens.
